Friday Jun 01, 2018
Friday Jun 01, 2018
I open this 2016 El Portal Syrah, a full-bodied California red that has a rich, dark purple color in the glass with big flavors of dark berries, and savory notes of pepper and olive. I’m trying as a chill out wine and possibly with grilling some steaks this afternoon which is the recommendation. A subscription order wine with a price point of $10.00.

Friday May 18, 2018
Bear Hug Winemaker Select Chardonnay, California, Wine Insiders, $26.00. This blend of styles produces a stylish and delicious Chardonnay, which has the classic flavors, but with a California twist. It tastes like: apple, ripe melon, nectarine, vanilla and toasty oak. It is best served cold, around 45-50 degrees fahrenheit. It pairs well with roast chicken, grilled veal and cream-based pastas. Honeysuckle and peach, citrus. Lime on the finish, green apple.

Alicia and I had an opportunity to check out the Marvel series Runaway that was adapted to TV from the comic book series. This delightful TV series was refreshing and the writing was a very well adapted. Marvel has a good series on their hand on Hulu so look out for the next season.

F. Stephen Millier Angels Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Lodi 2016
Friday Mar 30, 2018
Friday Mar 30, 2018
This low cost Cab was something I pulled out this wine just for a light meal. Not my normal sit down type of Cab but a compliment and easy going with a meal.
This Lodi Cab is the proof, showcasing a lush, ripe style from a single estate vineyard. Sweet red fruit, predominantly cherry with an undertone of raspberry, and some smoke. A bit spicy with a hint of oak.

I would say we were looking forward to seeing this movie but after a few previews and precomments of the movie we became a little skepitcal about this new Ava Duvenay release. The big and magnificent Oprah (literally in the movie) centers a fantasy child like movie based on a book by Madeleine L'Engle by the same name.

Joined by Meg's classmate Calvin O'Keefe and guided by the three mysterious astral travelers known as Mrs. Whatsit, Mrs. Who and Mrs. Which, the children brave a dangerous journey to a planet that possesses all of the evil in the universe.

We stay on the West Coast and grab hold of two new releases. Both from L.A the area with styles that may seem similar but unique in a way to see how quality trumps style. Cozz being a Dreamville alum and Nipsey with Atlantic records. Pretty interesting when you hear the features and production quality.

Cassiday Blare 2016 Pinot Noir
Friday Mar 02, 2018
Friday Mar 02, 2018
This Cassiday Blare 2016 Pinot Noir, is a striking wine that will be an instant classic. Powerful, with notes of dark berries and plum, this wine is enjoyable to drink on its own, but it really shines with food. We’ve been enjoying it seasoned lamb and roasted asparagus that really brings out the earthiness of the Pinot Noir grapes. It retails for $30.

Monday Feb 19, 2018
Monday Feb 19, 2018
Tonight Alicia and I go out on the premier night of the Black Panther Marvel Movie. Sitting in the theater, it was a historic feeling and highly enjoyable experience. Based on the reviews and the many trailers that showed half of the movie. It was well worth it.
T'Challa, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. While maintaining the the title of The Black Panther.
