Tonight Alicia and I go out on the premier night of the Black Panther Marvel Movie. Sitting in the theater, it was a historic feeling and highly enjoyable experience. Based on the reviews and the many trailers that showed half of the movie. It was well worth it.
T'Challa, after the death of his father, the King of Wakanda, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation to succeed to the throne and take his rightful place as king. While maintaining the the title of The Black Panther.

Alicia and I sit down to watch one of Netflix new movies that cost over $90 million. A fantasy cop drama that was totally beat up by the critics but got some love from the viewers and audience. We add our review to the mix.

Soooo, we go see the new Star War movie the last Jedi. This 2 1/2 hour movie was the next edition of the Star War series. Alicia and I saw the mixed reviews (86% critics / 56% people review) and figured the people missed the true premise of the movie and the critics were right. So we find out, one of them was absolutely correct
Luke Skywalker's peaceful and solitary existence gets upended when he encounters Rey, a young woman who shows strong signs of the Force. Her desire to learn the ways of the Jedi forces Luke to make a decision that changes their lives forever. Alicia and I were moved to see this film on Netflix by the reviews and the Golden Globe nomination of Mary J. Blige. An interesting movie we initially thought was a typical southern white family story aligned beside a southern black family in the 1940's. But this movie showed an amazing directorial process and interpretation of the book "Mudbound" by Hillary Jordan by Dee Rees.
Laura McAllan is trying to raise her children on her husband's Mississippi Delta farm, a place she finds foreign and frightening. In the midst of the family's struggles, two young men return from the war to work the land. Jamie McAllan, Laura's brother-in-law, is everything her husband is not - charming and handsome, but he is haunted by his memories of combat. Ronsel Jackson, eldest son of the black sharecroppers who live on the McAllan farm, now battles the prejudice in the Jim Crow South
