Mary Poppins Returns/Mary Poppins (1964)

Wednesday Jan 09, 2019
Alicia and I wanted to see this movie because we remember from our childhood watching Mary Poppins over and over. Black children watching a British nanny take care of the children of an affluent family was a fantasy but enjoyable. Even though Dick Van Dyke did semi put on black face (JS) The musical never left our memory so we anted to see the new version this movie. Honestly not expecting much but expecting not to be disappointed.
Now an adult with three children, bank teller Michael Banks learns that his house will be repossessed in five days unless he can pay back a loan. His only hope is to find a missing certificate that shows proof of valuable shares that his father left him years earlier. Just as all seems lost, Michael and his sister receive the surprise of a lifetime when Mary Poppins -- the beloved nanny from their childhood -- arrives to save the day and take the Banks family on a magical, fun-filled adventure.

Sunday Dec 30, 2018
I ran into one of my favorite producers from the early 2000's and found that he released a current LP that was in line with his previous releases. Tadd Mullinix or Dabrye at that time was a talented producer from Michigan that did a lot of production with electronics and hip hop. To pay homage to his career and to highlight his new release. I wanted to review his previous releases. Here's part 1
Tadd Mullinix or Dabrye is an American musician from Ann Arbor, Michigan, United States, also known by the aliases James T. Cotton and SK-1. During his adolescent years, he grew up in Troy, MI. His Winking Makes a Face was the first album released by Ann Arbor’s Ghostly International. Parting with the IDM sound of Winking..., the first Dabrye album was 2001's One/Three, whose take on instrumental hip-hop paralleled the work of artists such as Prefuse 73.

Bohemian Rhapsody (motion picture biopic)

Wednesday Nov 21, 2018
We go to the movies to see one of our favorite bands of our childhood. Queen. Knowing almost all the hits and some that we did not know they made. We wanted to go to the theater and sing along with the screen. I was not a big follower of Freddie Mercury but we were aware of some of his exploits. So the lack of craziness they didn’t show wasn’t a big deal to us.

Eminem - Kamikaze 2018
Sunday Sep 16, 2018
Sunday Sep 16, 2018
So holy Sh**!! Did not expect this to come out this year like this. Sean and I go all in on the new release by Eminem that puts his target on reviewers, rappers and partners that he needs to let out some venom on. A throw back to the Shady days that I was hoping for last year instead of the Revival release.
We take the time to pay respect to Mac Miller with his untimely death. A little about his rap career, depression and substance abuse. RIP
Kamikaze is the tenth studio album by American rapper Eminem. Previously unannounced, the album was released on August 31, 2018 by Aftermath Entertainment, Interscope Records, and Shady Records. The album features guest appearances from Joyner Lucas, Royce da 5'9", Jessie Reyez, and uncredited vocals by Justin Vernon

This week we get a little Neo-soul and a little west coast rap harmonizing music that Sean and I get into this week. A break from the named performers as well as familiar sounds out today. A really good mixture and somewhat contrasting but pretty good releases for this year. Strictly west coast this week. We test each others perspective on these two artist.
