Alicia and I was looking forward to watching this sequel to the Guillermo de Toro movie.  Once again good diversity with the characters and we are looking forward to the action with a better story line than the Transformers series.

 

Jake Pentecost is a once-promising Jaeger pilot whose legendary father gave his life to secure humanity's victory against the monstrous Kaiju. Jake has since abandoned his training only to become caught up in a criminal underworld. But when an even more unstoppable threat is unleashed to tear through cities and bring the world to its knees, Jake is given one last chance by his estranged sister, Mako Mori, to live up to his father's legacy.

The killing of a sacred deer

This review I delve into the psychological and abstract movies that takes a little more than watching and knowing what the plot, ending and story is all about.  This one is the killing of a sacred deer. A Yorgos Lanthimos movie that is so interesting the way it speaks to revenge, sacrifice and responsibility.  

 

Dr. Steven Murphy is a renowned cardiovascular surgeon who presides over a spotless household with his wife and two children. Lurking at the margins of his idyllic suburban existence is Martin, a fatherless teen who insinuates himself into the doctor's life in gradually unsettling ways. Soon, the full scope of Martin's intent becomes menacingly clear when he confronts Steven with a long-forgotten transgression that will shatter his domestic bliss forever.

For this two part music review, we review Tech n9ne and SyAri da Kid.  We go through these two artist old and new releases that have diverse and creative histories, We start with the prolific veteran from Kansas City, Tech n9ne.  We discuss his previous work and his current release.  With Tech n9ne unique style, it makes you rethink the current change of hip hop today.

F. Stephen Millier Angels Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon Lodi 2016

This low cost Cab was something I pulled out this wine just for a light meal.  Not my normal sit down type of Cab but a compliment and easy going with a meal.

This Lodi Cab is the proof, showcasing a lush, ripe style from a single estate vineyard.  Sweet red fruit, predominantly cherry with an undertone of raspberry, and some smoke. A bit spicy with a hint of oak.

 

 

Red Sparrow (the movie)

For this weeks movie podcast, Alicia and I check out the new provocative Jennifer Lawrence movie "Red Sparrow".  Based on a novel but has been controversial based on the sexual content and the violence towards women.  We review this Russian espionage film.

 

Prima ballerina Dominika Egorova faces a bleak and uncertain future after she suffers an injury that ends her career. She soon turns to Sparrow School, a secret intelligence service that trains exceptional young people to use their minds and bodies as weapons. Egorova emerges as the most dangerous Sparrow after completing the sadistic training process. The Mantis (La Mante) Netflix (Subtitled)

Alicia and I started on our international series of foreign films and TV series.  This episode we got really excited by another Netflix exclusive mini series released in December 2017.  Another twist on the serial Killer genre that tells the story about a french female serial killer.   This female serial killer, nicknamed 'La Mante' decides to collaborate with the police when a string of murders that copycat her style suddenly appear. But she has some extraordinary conditions she request in order to help.  One being her son the police officer

 

Bombings in Austin, Guns,Social media analytics and WH Firing

The team gets together to discuss the randomness of the Austin Tx. bomber and the continuation of gun violence and obsession in the US.  The FBI and Secretary of State firing seemed like old news but it actually happened and are we numb from these actions? We talk Social media analytics and companies that prey on us.

Domaine Demeure-Pinet Jacquere 2013

This wine is lively with acacia and lemon flavors. These are complemented nicely by a touch of minerality. The wine is super as an aperitif, but will pair nicely with lighter white-wine foods. This Jacquere is a wonderful and low priced alternative for people who like to drink Sauvignon Blanc wines (and even Pinot Grigio wines)

 Jacquere is a clean and fresh alpine white grape variety grown in Savoie, France. The white wines of Jacquere are highly prized but traditionally hard to come by outside France. They are typically priced very reasonably in relation to their quality
