M3 Holiday spending and holiday obligations

We end the year with how spending  around this time is so stressful because of ignorance, obligations or just commitment. We kinda give some ideas when and why spending should be smart, strategic and needful.   Also the dumb commitment of New Years resolutions.  Is there a good way of following goals other than national holidays? We use our myth buster segement to relate to the Origins of New years resolutions from further back than most would imagine.

We went long on our last podcast episode of REPO, so we added this predictions podcast to a totally separate episode while adding in some weird opinions on what ever came to mind. UFO's, PBS and the sexual freaks on their network.

Mudbound (Netflix)

Alicia and I were moved to see this film on Netflix by the reviews and the Golden Globe nomination of Mary J. Blige.  An interesting movie we initially thought was a typical southern white family story aligned beside a southern black family in the 1940's. But this movie showed an amazing directorial process and interpretation of the book "Mudbound" by Hillary Jordan by Dee Rees.   

Laura McAllan is trying to raise her children on her husband's Mississippi Delta farm, a place she finds foreign and frightening. In the midst of the family's struggles, two young men return from the war to work the land. Jamie McAllan, Laura's brother-in-law, is everything her husband is not - charming and handsome, but he is haunted by his memories of combat. Ronsel Jackson, eldest son of the black sharecroppers who live on the McAllan farm, now battles the prejudice in the Jim Crow South

The Tax Bill, voting and Elections

The team returns just in time to discuss the Tax Bill that has signed into Law by the Trump.  We talk about the different changes and how we perceive the changes will effect us.   As three different perspectives gather their thoughts (single, married with child, married towards retirement)

Justice League (DC Universe) Movie review

This episode Alicia and I go to the matinee to watch the new DC release Justice league.  After enjoying the Wonder Woman movie and slightly looking forward to this release after the Superman vs. Batman.  we talk about the pros and cons of the movie despite the bad ratings and the low box office results.  

Anita Borg Institute Grace Hopper Christmas Party 2017

Alicia attended the Anita Borg institute Grace Hopper Christmas party and decided to ask the women there about 2017.  The two questions were.  What was your thoughts about what happen to women and what women did this year?  Also as women what was accomplishments or what was this year like for you personally?  Alicia had plenty of diverse views as well as very personal stories.
